Iran wants to discuss nuke-free world: Qashqavi

Tehran, September 14: Iran’s Foreign Ministry says that while Tehran’s nuclear rights are not negotiable with the West the country is prepared to discuss broader topics.

“Iran’s inalienable right to nuclear energy is not up for discussion. However, Tehran is prepared to negotiate about nuclear disarmament within the framework of its package to quell any existing concerns,” Spokesman Hassan Qashqavi said Monday.

The spokesman added that Iran’s motto is “nuclear technology for all, nuclear weapons for no one” and went on to reiterate Tehran’s stance that its nuclear work is entirely peaceful.

Qashqavi’s comments came several days after Iran presented a package to the EU, proposing a round of talks on global economic cooperation and nuclear disarmament.

“Tehran is ready for logical talks on various issues such as enabling all states to benefit from nuclear energy and preventing the spread of nuclear weapons,” Iran’s UN nuclear watchdog envoy Ali Asghar Soltaniyeh said about the package.
