Islamabad, May 13: Pakistan’s ambassador to Iran has been discharged from the hospital a day after being attacked by an Afghan individual in Tehran.
Doctors say Mohammad Bakhsh Abbasi has recovered from a minor injury and is now in good health.
He was attacked while taking a walk down a street in northern Tehran, reports indicate.
The assailant was immediately arrested by police and is now under interrogation.
Pakistani officials have dismissed rumors by some foreign media outlets claiming that several people were killed in the incident.
On Tuesday, Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast also rejected media reports about an assassination attempt on Pakistan’s ambassador in Tehran.
“Pakistani envoy, Mohammad Bakhsh Abbasi was walking in a Tehran street when an unarmed Afghan national attacked and beat him up,” Mehmanparast said.
