‘Iran produces 1bn liters of gasoline’

Tehran, November 27: Iran’s oil minister says more than one billion liters of gasoline has been produced in the country so far, rendering enemy efforts to ban gasoline sales to Iran ineffective.

“We should have imported between 20 and 22 million liters of gasoline on average daily,” Masoud Mirkazemi was quoted by the IRIB as saying.

But the global hegemony went the extra mile to ban gasoline sales to Iran, he added.

That prompted Iran to work intensely to produce gasoline inside the country to meet its domestic demand, he said.

Finally, he added, Iran managed to produce high-quality gasoline — a move which was a slap in the face for “global arrogance” and at the same time “took them by surprise.”

Mirkazemi went on to say that efforts were being made to increase investment in the nation’s oil industry, especially in the South Pars oil and gas field as well as shared fields.

“A new era is emerging in the oil industry,” said the top official.

He underlined the enemy is focusing its sanctions on the Iranian energy sector.

Mirkazemi said his ministry will press ahead with its efforts to counter any possible disruptions in energy supplies, adding “a better future is awaiting the oil industry despite all the mischief by the [Islamic Republic] establishment’s ill-wishers.”
