Tehran, March 02: Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has called for further cooperation with Oman, underscoring the importance of closer ties between Tehran and Muscat.
President Ahmadinejad made the remarks in a telephone conversation with Oman’s Sultan Qaboos bin Said on Tuesday, IRNA reported.
The Iranian chief executive made a reference to the developments unfolding in the region and stressed the need for ‘prudence’ in making ‘proper’ decisions regarding the regional issues.
He said that foresight in decision-making can help resolve the problems and work in the interest of nations.
The Iranian president reiterated that Iran-Oman relations could be beneficial for the region.
Sultan Qaboos, for his part, underlined the need for further bilateral cooperation in all spheres.
Earlier in February, Iran and Oman convened a committee in Muscat to exchange views on defense issues.
Iranian authorities have on various occasions highlighted the importance of relations with Persian Gulf littoral states for the Islamic Republic of Iran.
