Tehran, February 02: “The establishment of a joint trade council between Iran and Kuwait will play an effective role in strengthening relations and increasing the level of trade between the two countries,” IRNA quoted Ghazanfari as saying on Tuesday.
He called on Iranian and Kuwaiti trade officials to provide businessmen with all legal facilities to promote relations.
The Iranian minister expressed the country’s readiness to have Kuwaiti trade delegations and economic activists travel to Iran and become familiar with the country’s trade potentials and capacities.
Ghazanfari also called for the expansion of cooperation between Iranian and Kuwaiti private sectors.
According to official figures, the volume of trade between Iran and Kuwait stood at some USD 213 million in 2010. Iran exported USD 103 million in goods to Kuwait last year and imported USD 110 million in goods.
The trade volume between the two countries reached USD 158 million during the first nine months of the current Iranian calendar year, which started March 21, 2010.
