Tehran, February 11: Iranian companies have showcased their latest achievements in various fields including IT, energy, nanotechnology, and aerospace at Iranian Hi-Tech Expo at the Fairgrounds in Damascus.
On the eve of the 32nd anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran, some 147 companies and 313 Iranian experts in nanotechnology, airplane manufacturing, advanced geometrical and medical industries, oil, gas, IT, communications, renewed and alternative energy technology and environmental technology attended the Hi-Tech exhibition held on February 7-10, a Media correspondent reported on Thursday.
The Expo was organized by the Iranian Technical Cooperation and Innovation Center and the Syrian General Establishment for International Fairs & Exhibitions.
On the sidelines of the event, five cooperation agreements were inked between Syrian Arab Airlines and Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization, aimed at providing crew training, aircraft maintenance, air-freight and construction of modern hangars.
Meanwhile, Iranian president’s chief of staff, Esfandiar Rahim-Mashaei, said in a speech in Damascus that the exhibition is an opportunity to open new prospects for cooperation between Syria and Iran.
He also expressed the Islamic Republic’s preparedness to export Iranian technological know-how to Syria as the two countries continue to thrive on strong ties amid efforts to cement bilateral relations in near future.
“the exhibition will considerably pave the way for a new phase of technical, scientific and technological cooperation between Syria and Iran and make big leaps in that field, voicing desire to export Iranian technology to Syria,” said Mohammad Hammoud, the director general of the General Establishment for International Expos and Markets.
Bilateral trade between the two countries is currently valued at $3 billion and is expected to hit $5 billion in the near future.
