‘Iran-China ties will benefit all’

Tehran, June 11: Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says Iran and China can boost collaboration on the basis of friendship and trust that will be benefit all.

Speaking at a meeting with Yu Zhengsheng, Secretary of the Communist Party of China in Shanghai prefecture on Friday, Ahmadinejad also said the two countries enjoy millennia of historical backgrounds and have survived due to their enduring civilizations, IRNA reported

The Iranian president, who is visiting Shanghai for the port city’s Expo 2010, added that Iran and China will survive for the moral values shared by the two nations.

For his part, Zhengsheng lauded the presence of Iranian culture, architecture and history in the Iran section of the fair and said the people of China have shown enthusiasm to discover more about the country, the report added.

During his stay in Shanghai, Ahmadinejad also intends to mark the national day of the Islamic Republic at the exhibition through a ceremony on June 11.

His visit comes after China voted in favor of the new sanctions resolution against Iran for its civilian nuclear program during a UN Security Council session on Wednesday.

China’s yes vote on the sanctions has drawn harsh criticism from Iranian officials.
