Tehran: Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has called on Muslim community to take out mass protests across the world on last Friday of Ramadan as part of the annual Al-Quds Day, to support the innocent and oppressed people of Palestine and their legitimate struggles. He also asked all Iranians to turn up in the rallies to be taken out in Iran in large numbers.
According to sources his post on his official website read “expect[s] all people throughout our dear Iran, regardless of their thoughts and beliefs, to attend Quds Day demonstrations, sending this message to the usurper Zionist Regime [Israel] that they have not forgotten the Palestinian land and the Holy Quds and the freedom of the Holy Quds is still the holy cause of the Iranian people and all Muslims.”
Rouhani’s message assumes importance this year because of U.S. President Donald Trump’s recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and 2018 being “the 70th anniversary of the occupation of the Palestinian land.”
It must be noted that Iran’s first Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khomenei created Al-Quds Day as an annual event.
This year while the main protest is being held in Tehran, rallies will also be taken out in New York, London, Copenhagen and Toronto.
Rouhani appealed Muslim world to celebrate Al-Quds Day with complete religious passion and take out rallies and processions for protection of Al-Quds. He termed shifting of US embassy to Jerusalem a deep conspiracy of US and Israel against Al-Quds and Palestinians and said, US and Israel are toying with the religious sentiments of 1.5 Cr Muslims by occupying Jerusalem.
