New Delhi, May 03: Delhi Daredevils are looking down and almost out of this season’s IPL afer they lost six of their nine matches in the ongoing Twenty20 tournament, but skipper Virender Sehwag is still optimistic of qualifying for the knock-out round. “It is difficult but not impossible (reaching the knock-out) but for that we have to play really well and believe in ourselves.
Deccan (Chargers) won five in a row and qualified so there is no reason why can’t we do a similar thing,” Sehwag told mediapersons after Daredevils slumped to a seven-wicket defeat at the hands of Kochi Tuskers Kerala at the Ferozeshah Kotla ground here last night.
It was Delhi’s fifth loss at home and they have now moved down to eighth place with six points.
The Delhi skipper said they just failed to put enough runs on the board. Daredevils were restricted to 140/6 and Tuskers achieved the target with 30 balls to spare and jumped to the sixth spot in the points table.
“We did not score enough runs. We should have scored at least 170-180. The pitch was good for batting.” The India opener further said defending a small total was always difficult on this pitch.
“When the opposition batsmen comes hard on you and when you are defending a small total, it is difficult,” he added.
