IPL Betting: Bollywood Actor Arbaaz Khan appears at Thane Police Station

With the end of season finale of IPL, probe into IPL betting has begun with Bollywood Actor Arbaaz Khan appearing in Thane Police Station today on Saturday after he was summoned yesterday for his alleged involvement in IPL betting racket busted recently.

The actor/ producer was summoned since his name cropped up after alleged bookie Sonu Jahan accused of betting in the recently concluded IPL was arrested, Times now reported.

A team of five-members including senior inspector Pradeep Sharma will be interrogating Arbaaz Khan at the Thane Police Station after his arrival today.

The actor arrived in a black BMW car at around 11:00 am accompanied by Salman’s bodyguard Shera.

According to the sources, Arbaaz khan was supposed to pay lost his bet amounting to Rs 3 crores to Sonu.

Failing which the bookie then reportedly threatened the actor of exposing him to public. Several Pictures of the duo have also come up during the interrogation.

The IPL betting racket was recently busted by AEC on 15 May nabbing four persons including Sonu Jalan in Mumbai.

According to Senior Inspector Pradeep Sharma, the probe led the police to establish a connection between Jalan and Arbaaz.

While another police official said, “We suspect that Arbaaz Khan had placed bets on IPL matches and want to scrutinize his bank transactions,” as told to PTI.

Earlier, Police Inspector Rajkumar Kothmire had confirmed that actor Arbaaz was summoned to appear before the Thane Anti Extortion Cell on Saturday.

“The case investigations are going on since the past five-six years and could involve amounts of over Rs 500-600 crore. We want to find out from Arbaaz what was his role in the entire matter,” said Kothmire.

While the bookie arrested has so far confessed to having fixed a Sri Lanka vs Australia Test match in 2016 as well as a domestic match which featured Pakistani players.
