Jaipur: The much awaited upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 player auction is scheduled to take place in Jaipur on December 18.
In a pool of 346 cricketers there is no Indian player in the highest reserve price bracket of Rs 2 crore, who will go under the hammer at the IPL Player Auction.
Earlier the teams announced the list of players to be retained and released for the 2019 edition. While a lot of the usual suspects were retained, there were a few big names who were released by a few of the franchises.
The final list has been trimmed after the eight franchises submitted their shortlist of players, a BCCI release said. There were 1003 players who had registered initially.
In the highest bracket of Rs 2 crore, star players like Brendon McCullum, Chris Woakes, Lasith Malinga, Shaun Marsh, Colin Ingram, Corey Anderson, Angelo Mathews, Sam Curran and D’Arcy Short have opted to be slotted.
In the last season of IPL, Indian pacer Jaydev Unadkat toped grosser with a whopping final bid amount of Rs 11.5 crore whose base price of Rs 1.5 crore.
The 2019 IPL auction is set to take place on Tuesday, 18th December 2018 and is expected to start at 2.30 pm IST. The auction is scheduled to take place in the Pink City of Jaipur after being shifted from Bangalore.
The auction will be aired live on television across various Star Sports channels. The live streaming of the auction will also be available on the Hotstar.
