Rajkot (Gujarat) [India]: Gujarat Lions’ all-rounder Andrew Tye has been ruled out of the remainder of IPL season 10 with a dislocated shoulder.
Tye dislocated his shoulder in Gujarat Lions’ thrilling super over loss to Mumbai Indians on Saturday.
The Western Australian, who was attended to by the Gujarat physio and the Lions’ Australian coach Brad Hodge, before being stretchered off the Rajkot ground, appeared to be in serious pain after falling on his shoulder diving for a ball in the field.
“Unfortunately this is the end of the tournament for me…As heartbreaking as it is, I have enjoyed my time here,” cricket.com.au quoted Tye as saying.
“The shoulder popped out of the socket and remained out for a while.”
“They put it back in at the hospital. The extent of the damage is still unknown. I will be flying home in the next couple of days to figure that out. And as for the recovery time, I am not too sure at the moment, but hopefully it’s not too long,” he added.
After sitting on the bench for the two preceding IPL seasons, the 31-year-old made a memorable IPL debut as took a hat-trick against Pune and finished with 5-17 from his four overs in a match-winning effort.
His absence will prove to be a big blow for the the Suresh Raina led-side after West Indian all-rounder Dwayne Bravo was ruled out from the tournament. (ANI)
