New Delhi: iPhone 7 will be reaching India on September 26, just 19 days after the international launch on September 7 at the Graham Bill Civic Auditorium in San Francisco.
“We are already preparing for the launch of iPhones as the shipping dates from the US is expected to be somewhere between September 15 to 19. We should have the phones by September 26,” a person in know of the development told HT.
The unlocked iPhone 7 base model (32 GB) is likely to be priced at $749. Meanwhile in India, prices are likely to start at Rs 63,000, according to industry sources.
Apple is increasing its focus on India, the fastest growing and also the second largest smartphone market in the world. In fact, India was also the lone bright spot in Apple’s quarterly results. India iPhone sales jumped 51% in the first nine months of Apple’s current business year, while the company’s sales in India crossed the $1-billion mark for the first time last year. It, however, has a minuscule market share (less than 2%) of the country’s smartphone market.
Meanwhile there is doule treat for iPhone lovers as Apple is expected to launch two new iPhones — iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, along with three Apple watches. They will come in five colours — rose gold, gold, silver, blue and black.
“The iPhone 7 Plus will come with dual cameras and there are no external design changes for both the phones as they will look like the 6S,” said the source quoted above.
Apple plans to launch two new Watches in the second half of 2016, an improved version of the existing Apple Watch model. Of the two, the Apple Watch 2 will come with GPS, barometer and other new features.
However, the company may move away from its usual launch schedule and showcase the MacBook in a separate event. “We didn’t get any updates on the MacBooks and it is expected to be launched separately,” the source said.
In terms of updates and launches, the MacBook Pro is set to get its first updated product since its 2013 launch.
