Jaipur, December 11: A lower court here has asked the Rajasthan Director-General of Police to lodge an FIR against the District Collector, an Inspector-General of Police and a SP for not registering FIR in the post-IOC fire incident and “distorting” facts on disaster management on Internet.
On an “istgasa” (complaint) filed by advocate Mahendra Gaur requesting the court to direct the DGP to register an FIR, the Chief Judicial Magistrate (Jaipur city) Mahaveer Swami yesterday ordered filing a case against collector, IGP (Range-I) and SP (East).
The complainant Gaur has alleged that these officials “distorted” facts in the IOC fire tragedy in which some information related to the “Disaster Management Plan- 2005” was put on a website and immediately withdrawn.
He also alleged that the district officials and senior police officials tried to manipulate the facts of the M B Lal committee probing the fire that claimed 12 lives on November 29 at Sitapura Industrial Area, 15 kms from here.
When contacted the District Collector Kuldeep Ranka told PTI that he had not received any such order so far.
“Since it was an istagasa by the complainant, the government could not present its side in the court. The website which the complainant mentioned was maintained by the State Relief Department, not the district authorities,” Ranka said.
“The district authorities would take up the matter after receiving the court order and give a suitable reply and ensure any action, if required in the case,” he said, adding “there has been no irregularity, distortion of facts and figure, and hiding any truth in the IOC case”.
