Investment fraud: woman & accomplice held

A woman swindler and her accomplice who robbed public by promising investment in big businesses and double profit were arrested by Kalapathar police. Both were remanded under judicial custody.

It is said that 35-year-old Maliha Shireen and 24-year-old Mirza Asifullah Baig, residents of Sattar Bagh were arrested by the police. Shireen had swindled her house owner, a woman relative of hers and another person.

Kalapathar police inspector Mohammed Abdul Majid told that Shireen and Asif developed friendship 4 month ago. Both were said to be neighbours. Shireen obtained Rs. 25 lakh cash and 170 grams gold from one Tasleem resident of Tolichowki, Rs. 6.25 lakh 400 grams gold from Tahseen, resident of Phool Bagh and Rs. 41 lakh from Shamsuddin Ghalib of Phool Bagh convincing them that their money is being invested in Kashish showroom as she has good relations with the owners of Kashish.

Inspector told that Rs. 2.5 lakhs and 135 grams gold have been seized from her possession.
