Patna: Former Bihar chief minister and Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) president Jitan Ram Manjhi on Tuesday said there is a climate of intolerance in the country and this is setting a wrong precedent.
Manjhi also said he would meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi to present his views on this “serious issue”.
He said that intolerance more or less was always there in the country, adding “the central government should come out with a clarification on this issue”.
Last month, Manjhi blamed Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat and Bharatiya Janata Party president Amit Shah for the debacle of the BJP-led alliance in Bihar.
Manjhi’s party contested 20 seats in the recently concluded Bihar assembly elections but won only one seat.
The party’s sole victor was Manjhi himself. He won from Imamganj in Gaya, his home district.
