Thiruvananthapuram, December 12: The second International Afro-Asian Theatre Festival would be held at Thrissur from December 20 to 29.
The plays would be staged at two venues under the Malayalam Theatre Panorama and Afro-Asian Theatre Panorama sections during the ten-day event.
World classics and stage translations of epic literary works would be the highlights of the festival, a release from the Afro-Asian Theatre Festival 2009, said here.
The inaugural drama in the Afro-Asian section would be the play based on Herman Wooks’ novel `The Cane Mutiny.’ Several other plays based on the works of William Shakespeare and other renowned writers would be staged during the festival.
In the Malayalam section, the drama version of renowned poet Vyloppilli Sreedhara Menon’s poem `Sahyante Makan’ would be one of the main attractions.
