International conference on Bio-diversity in Hyderabad

Chairman of AP Biodiversity Board, Mr. Hempaiah told that Hyderabad will host international Bio Diversity Conference from 1st to 19th October 2012. The conference will be attended by 193 countries in which more than 8 thousand delegates will participate. Arrangements are being made to make the conference a success. There were many other countries competing for organizing this conference but India got this opportunity. Government of India has selected Hyderabad for holding this international conference, which is an honour for the people of Hyderabad.

Participating in the Praja Pitham Programme of the Government Mr. Hempaiah said that Hyderabad was chosen as the venue of the conference because it has many research institutions of international repute. In order to make this event successful, 12 committees have been constituted and each committee has been entrusted with some responsibility.

Hotels have been identified for accommodating the guests. Every country can register accommodation according to its choice. UNO is providing 200 dollars a day towards daily expenses for every delegate.

The conference would deliberate on ways and means to control various types of pollutions that are being developed in various countries. The conference has been divided into two groups in which a group would deliberate from 1st to 5th October on bio-technology. In this group 62 countries would participate.

He told that for promoting water resources, maintenance of congenial atmosphere is essential. In addition to it, plans would be formulated to stop improper use of fertilizers in order to ensure yield better crops. If all the countries agree to these proposals, they would be bound to implement them.

He informed that ‘Neem leaves’ are being exported to various countries where it is more in demand.

Red sandalwood is illegally exported to China and other countries. They say that it is being used in manufacturing musical instruments but when investigations were made, it was revealed that it is being used in manufacturing viagra tablets.

He told that Government of India has sanctioned Rs.600 Crore for meeting this expenditure. The rest is to be borne by Government of AP.
