Intermediate second year student commits suicide

On Monday, Prajwal Natkar, 17 years-old, committed suicide by hanging from a ceiling fan in his hostel room. He was a second year intermediate student of Narayana Junior College in KPHB. He was a native of Nagpur was an MPC student.

The incident came to light when his room-mates returned and alerted authorities. The motive behind the suicide could not be ascertained and no suicide note was found. The students alleged pressure from teachers led Prajwal to commit suicide.

According to KPHB police Inspector A. Gangaram, the hostel authorities informed the police. Prajwal was rushed to Mamtha Hospitals in close proximity, but was declared brought dead. Prajwal performed poorly in his first year examinations and was concentrating by attending special classes after college hours.

As said by students, Pridwal and his friends were reportedly singled out during study hours, and poke fun at by branding them as “losers”. A few days ago, he was yelled at for talking to his dad over phone.

They named the principal Krishna Reddy and other staff including Ravi, Niranjan and Ramaraju, the zonal in-charge, as being responsible for the suicide.

A case was registered under Section 306 (abetment to suicide) was registered against the management. Authorities from the college were unavailable for comment.
