Hyderabad, April 26: Reportedly depressed over securing low grade in the Intermediate first year examination, a 19-year-old girl attempted suicide by consuming toilet cleaning acid at her house at Ramanthapur on Saturday.
She died while undergoing treatment at the Osmania General Hospital (OGH) on Sunday.
U. Datri secured ‘C’ grade and since then was in a state of depression. When her parents were attending to some work, she bought acid and consumed it.
A few minutes later, her parents noticed her in an unconscious state and immediately rushed her to the OGH where she died today, according to police.
Meanwhile, the city police on Sunday night busted a cricket betting racket with the arrest of six persons.
Following information about the betting, police raided a house at Himayathnagar and took the accused, including the kingpin, Abishek, into custody.
Two laptops, 13 mobile phone handsets , a television set and a voice recorder were seized from them.
Abishek and his associates were indulging in betting in connection with the Indian Premier League final, according to the police.
