Inter exams from March 2

The intermediate public examination for the academic year 2011-12 will be held from March 2 to March 19.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Board of Intermediate Education secretary M Subramanyam said that the first year examinations would be conducted from March 2 to March 17 followed by second year examination from March 3 to 19.

As many as 19,58,202 students will appear for the examinations this year. The board has set up 2,488 examination centres across the State. As many as 133 self-centres have also been set up. The Board has classified 330 centres as ‘sensitive’ or ‘problematic’.

While 8,50,610 candidates including 3,98,754 girls would write the first year exam, 7,56,407 would appear for the second year examinations. Besides, 1,89,066 candidates including 65,930 girls would appear as private candidates for the second year exam.

The evaluation of papers would begin from March 14 and results would be announced in the last week of April. The supplementary examinations would be conducted in the first week of May.

The marks secured in the inter examinations would get 25 per cent weightage in the EAMCET rankings.

Subramanyam warned that the Board would initiate serious disciplinary action against the lecturers if they fail to turn up for the examinations and evaluation of answer sheets. He said the board has served notices to 1,537 lecturers who skipped the duties of invigilators.

Empowered committees led by concerned District Collectors have been formed in all districts to supervise the conduct of examination. The district SP would be vice-chairman of those committees.

Subramanyam said that the RTC has been requested to run special buses for the candidates during the examination and the energy department has been asked to ensure interrupted power supply during the examination centres. A medical team would also be deployed at all centres.
