Hyderabad: On the occasion of Dr B R Ambedkar Jayanthi on April 5, Dalitha Kalyana Vedika Sangam will be conducting 100 inter-national, inter-caste and inter-religious marriages on April 5 at Babu Jagjivanram statue, opposite Nizam College, Basheerbagh here.
Stating this at a media meet here on Thursday, Sangam founder-president Renukuntla Yellaiah and other office-bearers said girls who have completed 18 years of age and boys, who have crossed 21 years of age, are eligible for the marriage. Yellaiah said they were conducting such marriages free of cost for the past 24 years with a view to eradicate the evils of caste system, untouchability and dowry.
He said the inter-caste and inter-religious couples are entitled to get Rs 51,000 from the Government, apart from award of ‘ideal couple’. The organization was conducting free marriages of orphans and children of prisoners. He regretted that the Government was not fulfilling the promises made for the inter-caste, inter-religious married couples.
