Inter-Caste, Inter-religious Marriages

Dalitha Kalyana Vedika Sangam will be celebrating its 24th annual day at Babu Jagjivanram Bhavan, Kothapet here from 2 pm on March 28. As part of the programme, inter-caste, inter-religious marriages would be conducted.
Stating this at a media meet at NSS here on Wednesday, Sangam founder President Renukuntla Yellaiah, Bhudala Amar Babu and other office-bearers said that Union Minister Sarve Satyanarayana will be chief guest at the programme. He said that girls who have completed 18 years of age and boys who have crossed 21 years of age are eligible for the marriage. Yellaiah said that they were conducting such marriages free of cost for the past 24 years with a view to eradicate the evils of caste system, untouchability and dowry.
He said that the inter-caste, inter-religious couple are entitled to get Rs.50,000 from the Government, apart from award of ‘ideal couple’. The organization is also conducting free marriages to orphans. He regretted that the Government was not fulfilling the promises made for the inter-caste, inter-religious married couple.
