Hyderabad, March 22: A postal van carrying the answer scripts of Intermediate public examination met with an accident near Raghunathpalli in Warangal district in the wee hours of yesterday leading to the death of the van driver and also damaging 24 answer scripts.
The officials of the Board of Intermediate Education announced that efforts will be made for valuation of the damaged answer sheets and awarding the marks.
According to police, a speeding lorry coming from Hyderabad to Hanamkonda collided with the postal van carrying the answer sheets heading towards Hyderabad near Raghunathpalli in the wee hours. The van driver Shanker died on the spot, while other postal officials suffered severe injuries.
It was reported that several bundles of Intermediate first year PhysicsI answer scripts fell out of the van and were damaged in the accident. However, the BIE officials conducted a verification of records and found that one bundle containing 244 answer scripts of the AP Tribal Welfare Residential Junior College at Utnoor in Adilabad district, fell out of the postal van. After a thorough checking, they found that only 24 of the 244 answer sheets were damaged.
In a statement issued today, the BIE authorities stated that the Board will examine the possibility of evaluating the answer sheets and awarding marks to the students. The Board is also examining the possibility of conducting reexamination to the students concerned in case they fail to evaluate the answer sheets. Meanwhile, the Inter exam was held smoothly across the state.
