Intention was not to pull the govt down : CPI(M)

Kolkata, April 27: With the cut motion brought by the opposition in Parliament boomeranging on them, the CPI(M) today said the move was not to pull down the government.

“Our motive was not to pull down the government. Moving the cut motion was to highlight the people’s grievances on the rising prices of the essential commodities for which the a nation-wide bandh was called today, CPI(M) politburo member Biman Bose told reporters here.

“Our party leader Sitarm Yechury had also said this,” he said.

Asked whether BSP’s decision to support the government on the cut motion and SP and RJD walking out from the House exposed chinks in the opposition, he said, “Left parties work with other non-Congress parties on the basis of common issues.

“Such joint movements are determined by issues. We cannot dictate what other political parties will decide on certain issues,” he said.
