Intel considers replicating Flood IT revolution in 2-3 states

Ahmedabad, September 03: Information Technology company Intel is considering replicating the model of ‘Flood IT Knowledge Revolution’ launched in Gujarat this year, for sales promotion in other states as well, a top company official said today.

“We are in talks with two-three states, other than Gujarat, for launching Flood IT revolution,” Vice President and General Manager Asia Pacific Intel Navin Shenoy told PTI.

Flood IT revolution was launched on a pilot project basis in the state and the response has been incredible so far, Shenoy said.

Over 28,000 computers, both laptop and desktop were sold within six months under the scheme, with which Intel is associated, through 600 branches of 146 co-operative banks spread across 9,000 villages of Gujarat.

Brainchild of Gujarat Urban Co-operative Banks Federation (GUCBF), concept ‘Flood IT revolution’ was launched by the Chief Minister Narendra Modi in February 2009, with an initial target of selling one lakh computers in 100 days.

Under the scheme, co-operative sector banks of the state financed computers to students, members and staff that they got at lower than market price from the manufacturers like HP, HCL and Acer, GUCBF official said.
