The Government will spend Rs 5,730 cr for launching “Farmer Insurance Scheme (Rythu Bhima) to the farmers in the age group of 18 years to 60 years fromAugust 15, Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas today said. The minister was addressing an awareness program insurance to farmers at Mahabubnagar along with ministers Jupally Krishna Rao, Dr C Lakshma Reddy, Farmers state panel chief Gutha Sukhender Reddy, state planning commission deputy chairman S Niranjan Reddy, MP Jithender Reddy, MLAs Srinivas Goud, Rammohan Reddy and others. On the occasion he said that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is kind hearted towards farmers in the state and is going to launch such an innovative scheme to provide Rs 5 lakh insurance to the farmers from August. KCR is offering Rs 2257 premium against Rs 50 insurance policy and make payments to the insurance company by August 1 for distributing related documents to the farmers. The aim of the KCR Government is to provide financial succor on time for farmers who should get rid of from the loans and related difficulties. Telangana has a total 52.40 lakh farmers who have 1.40 cr acres of land and the government will extend needed support for transforming the lands to produce golden yield and reap in benefits in near future, he said. This farmer insurance scheme is going to set another record of sorts in the country which is eagerly looking at the state he claimed. KCR gets the credit for Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bheema and land survey conducted after 86 years and also the TRS Government provides 24 hours power to farming and also seeds and fertilisers in adequate stocks. Agriculture extension officers will get farmers details by June 30and entry the same by July 15, he said. The officials will make arrangements for distribution of farmer insurance bonds by the local MLAs on August 15 the minister said adding that GO 63 has related guidelines.
Krishna Rao said that the government gets the credit of completing the pending projects in Palamur in three years and irrigated 6.5 lakh acres so far. The Palamur farmers are now happy and those who migrated to others states in the country are getting back to the old professions and eking out livelihood with the government launching several welfare schemes to revive their economy he explained. There is a lot of change between KCR and previous chief ministers as also the present government and the past ones he said. Unfortunately the opposition parties are coming in the way of the development which will not be stalled he added. Lakshma Reddy and Jithender Reddy also spoke. (NSS)
