Insurance coverage scheme for handloom weavers soon: KCR

Hyderabad: In tune with the state government’s Rythu Bima scheme for the farmers, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) supremo and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao said that a similar insurance coverage scheme will soon come up for the handloom weavers.

Rao was speaking at Telangana Bhavan after he welcomed former BJP leader from Huzurabad, E Peddi Reddy into the party. Several leaders from the weavers’ community also joined along with him.

Chenetha Bima, as it would be called, would aim at economic empowerment of the weavers in the state, KCR said. “It will be implemented in a similar fashion as Rythu Bima and will be launched once the modalities of implementation are finalized,” KCR said.

He also reiterated that Dalit Bandhu would be implemented in a phased manner and the formulation of Dalit Bima would take some more time.

Earlier this month, handlooms minister KT Rama Rao had mentioned about the implementation of Chenetha Bima for weavers, including powerloom weavers in the state.
