Instructions to spend Minorities Budget on Educational and Economic Development

Ms. Rani Kumudini IAS, Principal Secretary, Dept. of Minorities Welfare held a review meeting of the officials of Minorities Welfare Dept. for the implementation of developmental schemes for Minorities to review the expenditure pertaining to the financial year 2013-14.

She instructed the officials of Minorities Dept. to spend the budget allocated on educational and economic developmental schemes meant for improving the Social and Economic conditions of Minorities.

She told that it is the responsibility of the officials of the Dept. to spend the amounts judiciously so that Minorities are benefited. She told that if the amounts allocated for Minorities are spent scrupulously Govt. is prepared to provide more funds.

She informed that release of budget for the 1st quarter has already been started. She told that the major problem is educational and economic development of Minorities. All the institutions responsible for implementing these schemes for Minorities should ensure upliftment of Minorities.

She pointed out that in the past, the Department of Minorities Welfare had confined itself to religious activities such as repairs to mosques and graveyards, churches and marriage function halls.

Minorities have many other major problems which have to addressed to. There is a need to create awareness among the Minorities for making use of the facilities provided by the Govt.

The Development of Minorities could be ensured by ensuring their educational and economic progress. She told the officials of AP State Minorities Finance Corporation and Urdu Academy to improve the functioning of their institutions because most of the problems faced by the Minorities pertain to these two institutions. She elicited information about the computerization of Wakf Records.
