She set an example for the young officers that there is no need to fear about the corrupted system and its loop holes if one thinks what they are doing is right.

According to an article published in Livemint, Roopa was transferred from her post as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Prisons. The reason is that, she took on her own superiors to highlight wide-scale corruption and mismanagement in Bengaluru central jail, including preferential treatment given to All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) general secretary V.K.Sasikala.

But Roopa told that she has discharged her duties without giving a second thought about the consequences and said that “Different postings have different challenges. Though many people consider Prisons department ‘punishment posting’, I did not think so. I am strong headed.”
