A mentally ill person this morning partially damaged a gate of Andhra Pradesh State Legislative Assembly and put the police on tenterhooks
Though there was three-level security system at the Legislative Assembly, a person, who was later identified as Ashok Reddy, managed to enter the Assembly premises and damaged the entrance gate. Noticing the incident, the security personnel informed the matter to the police.
Speaking to the media after visiting the spot, DCP Kamalahasan Reddy said the person, who damaged the Assembly gate, was mentally sick. Ashok Reddy belongs to Pasra village of Warangal district and presently living in Gowri Shanker Nagar in Banjara Hills. It was detected through CC camera footage that Ashok Reddy entered the Assembly premises from Gate-1. His family members told the police that the accused left his home at 5 am today.
After damaging the gate, Ashok Reddy sat in the main hall of the Assembly. The legislature staff noticed him and informed the matter to the police, the DCP said. A case was registered against Ashok Reddy. Stringent action would be taken, if any security lapse was found after review of the incident, he added. (NSS)
