Stating that theoretical lessons of famous foreign management institutes cannot help tackling emotive and sensitive issues in execution of complex projects in Indian cities, he advised the participants to develop their own managerial intuition and communication skills to overcome challenges. Explaining as to how sensitive religious structures, stiff initial opposition to the project, acquisition of properties, innumerable court cases, etc., were deftly handled in the Hyderabad Metro Rail project, NVS Reddy stressed on the need for vision, strategy, tact, hard work, patience and perseverance in removing the bottlenecks in execution of the project. Giving practical examples, he enlightened them as to how to motivate and inspire the team members to carry out such tough projects.

Elaborating as to how the Urban Rejuvenation works of HMRL are transforming the streetscape of Hyderabad, he stated that Indian cities need to be made people friendly with better sidewalks/footpaths, non-polluting bicycles, pedestrian safety measures, greenery, quality public space, street furniture, etc.,

He informed the participants that Hyderabad Metro project, which was written-off by many experts as a daydream and jinxed project, is made a reality and success, with enormous patience, perseverance, engineering excellence and tactful execution.

Appreciating the complexity of the project and the dedication with which it is being implemented, Maj Gen Sandeep Sharma (the Head of the prestigious Defence Management College) and the participants gave a standing ovation at the end of the lecture.
