(Siasat News)On the one hand, Maulana Azad National Urdu University is marching ahead on the path of educational development, at the same time; it is keeping an eye on the introduction of such courses, which are job-oriented in nature.

The only national University of Urdu has succeeded in providing manpower in the areas of social work, in technical area like Polytechnic, I.T.I and professional courses like teacher education.

Urdu University has taken an initiative for launching four year integrated courses in science.

In the recent times, the concept of integrated courses has developed.

It goes without saying that the demand for teachers won’t be ceased at anytime. In the same manner, the need for teachers to teach Urdu medium students will also continue.

The newly integrated course in the field of teaching has been named as B. Teach (Bachelor of Teaching). The entry level is 10+2. The course has been designed in such a way that on completion of two years of education, if a student terminates his studies, he will be eligible to get Dip.Ed (Diploma in Education). If he continues his education for a further period of one year, he would get B.A. degree which means that within a span of three years, he would get a graduation degree (i.e. B.A) and a Diploma in Teaching (i.e. Dip. Ed).

In the fourth year of education course, attention will be concentrated on teaching the concerned subjects. On completion of four year course, a candidate would get a degree (B.A) and teaching qualification (B. Teach) after which he would be eligible to teach courses at high school level.

Various state governments would be contacted to assess the needs of Urdu Medium teachers in their respective States in the future.

Govt. of India has given emphasis on the professional development of Urdu Medium Teachers. For this purpose, UGC has established Center for Professional Development of Urdu medium Teachers (CPDUMT) in Urdu University. Helping the teachers of District Institutes of Education and Training (DIET) and State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) would further strengthen this Center

If the State Governments feel the need to seek the help of this Center for the teachers working in their colleges of Teacher Education; Urdu University is prepared to extend its cooperation.

Maulana Azad National Urdu University has already forwarded proposals to the University Grants Commission, New Delhi for launching new courses, for inclusion in 12th plan, which include courses in Indology and Linguistics.
