Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao today expressed concern over a TV9 news channel for telecasting a news item with footage belittling women legislators of Telangana State Assembly.
The Chief Minister called a meeting of all MLAs for a tea-break and together witnessed a footage comprising some comments insulting women. They discussed the issue and sought a serious action against the channel, sources said. While former minister DK Aruna said all leaders sought in unison serious action, TDP floor leader Revanth Reddy suggested to forgive the channel for now. Same was the voice from AIMIM, it is learnt. Besides, TRS, BJP and Left parties expressed serious concern on the footage and pressed for stringent action.
Later, the Chief Minister appealed to Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary to initiate stringent action against the channel TV9 for its Friday telecast of a news item with footage that belittled the members of the august House. During the concluding session of Telangana State Assembly here, the CM sought serious action against the news channel and stated that they would bring in an Act to contain such malicious footage and news. KCR said some media houses were violating the Constitutional norms of giving respect to women legislators of the Telangana State Assembly. “It is totally unethical and unconstitutional to demean the members of an august House. We will not tolerate such acts henceforth”, KCR warned. (NSS)
