Infiltration attempts into Kashmir increasing: Antony

Bangalore, July 06: Defence Minister A K Antony today said infiltration attempts into Kashmir from across the border were increasing with “conscious, calculated attempts” to push more terrorists into the valley.

“The situation is not grim, but is still a matter of concern. As Defence minister, I think compared to the past the situation has improved substantially. Violence levels have come down, tourist visits this year were more than last year.

However, infiltration attempts are increasing,” he said.

After witnessing the rollout of the naval version of the Light Combat Aircraft, Antony told reporters that when the situation becomes normal, enemies operating from across the border become “panicky and jittery” and problems had been anticipated this summer.

He said there were “conscious calculated attempt” to push more terrorists into Kashmir.
