Industry chamber to teach good driving skills

New Delhi, December 18: In order to reduce the alarming numbers of road fatalities in the country, Confederation of Indian Industry Friday joined hands with Shell India to inculcate good driving skills and create awareness about safe driving among the people.

“Two global organisations – CII’s Institute of Quality and Shell India today (Friday) joined hands and signed an MoU (memorandum of understanding) to launch a road safety initiative, which tries to bring about drastic changes in the way the transport sector operates in India,” a CII spokesperson said here.

The first of the initiatives called safe fleets was flagged off at the 17th Quality Summit organised by CII-IQ. This aims at preventing deaths and injuries caused by road accidents by developing road transportation safety management standards.

Vikram Mehta, chairman of Shell Group of companies, said: “Safe fleets bring a structured thought process to corporates and make them aware of the importance of road safety in a systematic manner”.
