INDRA NAVY 18 concludes in Bay of Bengal

Visakhapatnam: The Russian and Indian troops, participating in the Indra Navy 18, on Monday concluded the joint exercise in the Bay of Bengal.

The sea phase of the India Russia Maritime Bilateral Exercise, which involves Russia’s Pacific Fleet ships, started in the Bay of Bengal on December 13 near the Indian port of Visakhapatnam.

During the exercise, 10 ships of the two navies operated together as a Composite Task Force. The exercises included Visit, Board, Search and Seize (VBSS) drills, underway replenishment at sea, anti-submarine warfare manoeuvres and firing on aerial targets.

“The exercises at sea were progressed despite the deteriorating weather conditions further enhancing the interoperability between both the navies,” read the Indian Navy statement.

One submarine and several aircraft from the Indian Navy also participated in the exercise.

“The 10th edition of the exercise provided another opportunity to both the navies to operate with each other and exchange best practices,” tweeted the spokesperson of Indian Navy.
