Indo-Pak friendship can improve situation in J-K: Mufti

Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) : Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed on Wednesday asserted that friendship between India and Pakistan can improve the situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
“If this enmity turns into friendship, then the atmosphere of the whole subcontinent will get better. The only strategic step that can improve situation in Jammu and Kashmir is friendship between India and Pakistan. I want to take Jammu and Kashmir out of the miseries it is going through…for this I need your support,” Mufti said while addressing a rally here.

He appreciated the steps taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi towards improving relations with Pakistan.

“Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has also said no negative statements should be made against India, it is an important step. The Government of India has extended the hand of friendship, it takes time to minimise trust deficit,” he added.

Earlier this month, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj visited Pakistan and attended the ‘Heart of Asia’ conference where she held bilateral talks with Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his adviser Sartaj Aziz.
