Insensitivity among Muslims is due to lack of collectivity among Muslims which can bring serious results in the near future. We need to learn lesson from those tribal communities who are residing in forests. They have collective system even today, they prefer collective tribal system to family system. But sadly Muslims have left collective system and limited themselves to family system and now they have switched to individualism leaving family system also. Which has resulted to insensitivity among the community and they are failing to understand each others pain.
The main reason of insensitivity on Kashmir issue in India is the propagation of wrong information. The Kashmir issue needs a quicker solution. These views were expressed by Prof. S A Geelani during his meeting with Siasat correspondent during his visit to Hyderabad.
He told that the attitude of government regarding Kashmir issue is unrealistic. The government is distorting the truth and distancing the people from Kashmir issue.
Government of India tries to hide the terrorism of Indian military by circulating news of Pakistani terrorism in Kashmir. He revealed that lakhs of people have gone missing from Kashmir whose family members are still waiting for them. In the present scenario of Kashmir a new terminology has emerged which is no where to be found that is “Semi widowhood”. There are thousands of such women whose husbands are missing for years.
He told that a majority of Kashmiri people want autonomy. Very few of them want to join Pakistan or India. He told that referendum is inevitable for resolving Kashmir issue.
He told that when a woman in Manipur was raped and killed processions were held all over the country but when two women were raped by military men in Kashmir, no one raised voiced for those Kashmiri women. Not only that the human rights activists remained silent but the Muslim politicians too remained tight lipped.
Stressing the need to fulfill its promises made to Kashmiris Geelani asserted that the people of India should also be ready to support the truth on this humanitarian issue.
