Indigo assures safety to passengers amid bomb threats

New Delhi: Post the threat call received by its call centre in Chennai, the Indigo Airlines on Wednesday confirmed that the carrier is following the due security process to ensure safety and security of its customers.

There were bomb threats to 10 Indigo flights across the country. While some of the flights were grounded, the others were taken to the isolation bay as soon as they landed.

The first flight to be grounded was 6E 853-from Jammu to Delhi. On arrival in the national capital after disembarkation of passengers the plane was moved to an isolation bay.

“IndiGo Call Centre at Chennai received a bomb threat call at 11.13 a.m and within minutes all the security agencies were informed. There are certain laid down procedures to be followed by the airlines, airports and other government authorities and all such procedures were followed and are being followed,” Indigo said in a statement.

“We have commenced additional security measures as per our laid down procedures,” it added.

The threat call was received at Indigo’s call centre in Chennai while Jammu-Delhi flight was mid air.

The latest incident of bomb scare comes a day after the Delhi airport received calls about presence of bombs on five Jet Airways flights that originated from the national capital hours after the Brussels bomb attacks. (ANI)
