India’s ambassador to the UAE T P Seetharam has been appointed as the country’s permanent representative to the Abu Dhabi-based International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).
The move makes India 19th member of IRENA to designate a permanent representative to the inter-governmental organisation.
“India attaches great importance to the renewable energy sector and believes that only through a collaborative approach the goal of sustainable energy future can be realised. The accreditation of IRENA marks a significant step in this direction,” Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi said in a statement yesterday.
Seetharam formally presented his credentials as India’s permanent representative to Adnan Z Amin, Director-General of the IRENA, at a brief ceremony held at organisation’s headquarters.
