India’s squad for Test series against Sri Lanka to be picked today

Mumbai, November 10: Krishnamachari Srikkanth-led national selection committee will meet today to pick the squad for three-match Test series against Sri Lanka.

Left-hand pacer Zaheer Khan is all set to return to Test cricket after injury during second edition of Indian Premier League (IPL). Another left-hand speedster Ashish Nehra is likely to get berth in longer version of game after a gap of five years.

Zaheer’s return will be major boost for Skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni. At present, he is playing Ranji Trophy for Mumbai and is looking in good rhythm. Zaheer claimed seven wickets against Punjab in the Ranji Trophy match.

Ashish Nehra has been impressive after his return to ODIs. Ashish Nehra had played last Test match for India in 2004.

As far as spin bowling is concerned, ace offie Harbhajan Singh will have Pragyan Ojha as his partner.

National selection panel will focus on weaker bowling side of Team India during the meeting.

Probable squad: MS Dhoni, Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, VVS Laxman, Yuvraj Singh, Rahul Dravid, Murli Vijay, Dinesh Karthik, Zaheer Khan, Ishant Sharma, Ashish Nehra, Munaf Patel, Pragyan Ojha, Harbhajan Singh.
