India’s first test flight powered by biojet fuel was operated by SpiceJet according to the airline. The Aircraft took off from Dehradun and landed at the airport in the national capital.
A Bombardier Q400 aircraft is the first aircraft to run on partial biojet fuel, it was powered with a blend of 75 per cent air turbine fuel (ATF) and 25 per cent biojet fuel.
The fuel has been developed by the CSIR-Indian Institute of Petroleum (IIP), Dehradun, said the airline company
American Standard Testing Method (ASTM) recognised the biojet fuel and it meets the specification standards of Pratt & Whitney and Bombardier for commercial application in aircraft.
