A 30-year-old Indian worker, who was reported missing, has been found hanging from a tree in southern Oman, in the latest case of suicide involving an Indian expat in the gulf nation.
Jisine Govindan’s “body was found hanging from a tree at a garden behind the old Omantel building in Salalah,” said
Manpreet Singh, Chairman of the Indian Social Club in Salalah.
The deceased, who has been working as a mason in Salalah for six years, was scheduled to go home for his marriage.
“He probably took his life on Friday and his body was found only on Monday thus the remains are so putrid that it is
difficult to embalm,” a social worker said.
The doctors at the morgue have ruled out sending the remains of Jisine to India and he will be cremated in Salalah
once the body is handed over by the police, Singh told Gulf News.
According to his friends and colleagues, Jisine had been talking about suicide for some time.
In the first two months of this year, 15 Indian workers committed suicide.
