Indian peace delegation meets Pak PM

Hyderabad, March 29: An Indian peace delegation, which visited Pakistan from March 17-25 under the leadership of Kuldip Nayar, a veteran journalist, called for setting up a joint mechanism against terrorism and stressed on promotion of cooperation and friendship between the two countries.

The 12-member delegation, consisting of filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt and Bhalchandra Mungekar (MP), among others went to Karachi, Hyderabad, Islamabad and Lahore and interacted with a cross section of society, a release said here today.

The members suggested setting up a joint mechanism to fight terrorism and stressed on promotion of cooperation and friendship between India and Pakistan, it said.

The delegation met Prime Minister Yusuf Reza Gilani.

It also had the opportunity to watch the joint session of the Pakistan Parliament addressed by President Asif Ali Zardari.
