Melbourne, February 10: With Indo-Australian ties under stress following a spate of attacks on Indians here, music maestros like Hari Prasad Chaurasia will spread the message of love and peace with concerts in major cities in Australia.
After the successful performance by Grammy nominated Sarod maestro Amjad Ali Khan on the eve of Independence day last year, Core4 Entertainment Company is now bringing in the legendary exponent of flute, Hari Prasad Chaurasia, who will perform in Sydney, Perth and Melbourne in April this year.
According to the company”s director Sanjaya Raina, the attempt is to “extinguish the underlying heat of racism” that has spread among the two sides and created unrest. “No Indian or Australian is really in favour of these attacks.
The idea is to bring across top class musicians of India as ambassadors for peace building,” he said. The April Show with the flute maestro will be followed by the ”Freedom Tour” across the country which will see Santoor player Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma perform.
The company has also tied up with an Indian NGO ”PLAN”, which works for the cause of underprivileged children and part of the proceeds will go to the organisation. Since last year many legendary musicians including Amjad Ali Khan, A R Rahman have visited Australia to establish harmony.
