A Delhi court Wednesday remanded Obaid-ur-Rehman, alleged operative of banned terror outfit Indian Mujahideen (IM) in the Feb 21 Hyderabad blasts, to NIA custody for seven days.
A National Investigation Agency (NIA) special court, during an in-chamber hearing, sent Rehman to custody till March 20 after the agency told the court that conspiracy behind the blasts was hatched by IM modules including Rehman.
According to sources, District Judge I.S. Mehta, during an in-camera hearing, allowed the plea of the agency seeking custodial interrogation of Rehman saying that it had to unearth the entire conspiracy.
The agency told the court that Rehman was a key IM operative and might give vital information against banned group’s members involved in the blasts.
Rehman was brought here by the agency from Bangalore Central Jail where he was currently lodged. The court earlier issued production warrant against Rehman for Wednesday.
The court, during the hearing, also sent alleged IM operatives Syed Maqbool, Mohammad Aftab Alam and Imran Khan back to NIA judicial custody till March 23.
The agency questioned Maqbool and Khan over the blasts.
It told the court that duo were taken to Hyderabad and they revealed important facts about the blasts, court sources said.
Maqbool and Khan in July 2012 allegedly surveyed Hyderabad’s Dilsukhnagar, where the Feb 21 blasts took place, the agency said.
The court earlier also issued non-bailable warrants against IM founder Riyaz Bhatkal and nine other alleged operatives.
The blasts that killed 16 people and injured 117 were allegedly carried out on the instructions of Riyaz Bhatkal, the agency said.
