Indian Embassy to hold health awareness drive

Abu Dhabi, March 31: A total number of 846 Indians living in the UAE, died due to various reasons between January 1, 2009 and March 27, 2011, death statistics of the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi said on Wednesday.

According to the embassy, as against 846 total number of deaths, 588 were natural with a pre-dominance of diabetes, cardiac and cerebro-vascular diseases. The embassy will be conducting an awareness campaign on April 1 at the India Social and Cultural Centre (ISC) in the Capital as part of its initiative to educate and equip the Indian community with relevant information on health.The awareness campaign will focus on the health aspect wherein Dr Srinath, well-known cardiologist will speak on Preventive Cardiac Care. Cardiac ailments are seen as one of the principal reasons for the high incidence of stress-related deaths among Indian workers in the UAE.

The expert’s talk will be followed by an open house where members of the community could ask questions.

On the same occasion, the walk-in counter for the Indian community will be inaugurated by Indian Ambassador to the UAE, M. K. Lokesh.Members of the Indian community are requested to attend the programme at 3pm on April 1 at the ISC.
