Indian diaspora in UAE excited for PM Modi’s visit

Abu Dhabi (UAE): The Indian diaspora here is excited for the much awaited visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi who will arrive in Abu Dhabi on Sunday for a two-day visit. The community mostly feels that this visit will open areas for investment in both the countries.

George Ambooken, Senior manager of Etihad Airlines said that the Indian community is very excited for the Prime Minister’s visit and that they are feeling enthusiastic to work.

“There is a good feeling in the community. People are taking offs to attend the event. India and UAE have enjoyed strong ties. It has been so long since an Indian Prime Minister has visited. Our community here is very excited. I hope that economic areas can be discussed in this visit. We are getting recognition. NRIs contribution to the Indian economy will be seen.” Ambooken told ANI here.

Padma Shri awardee Yusuf Ali also said that the Indian diaspora in UAE is very happy to receive Prime Minister Modi.

“28 lakhs Indians are staying in this country and we are very happy to receive the honourable Prime Minister. We are expecting a big announcement from UAE govt to invest in India,” Ali told ANI here.

During the visit, Prime Minister Modi, who will be the first Indian prime minister to visit the UAE after Indira Gandhi in 1981, will seek to boost cooperation in energy, trade, people-to-people ties and more investments in India.

The Prime Minister will reach Abu Dhabi on August 16 and go to Dubai the next day. (ANI)
