Abu Dhabi, June 25: An Indian woman dancer, who declined to perform at a Dubai bar, was allegedly locked up in a flat here for four days by another Indian and a Bangladeshi, a local court was told.
The Indian supervisor, 32, and the Bangladeshi cleaner, 30, however, pleaded not guilty in the Criminal Court of First Instance to the charge of holding the woman in captivity.
The Dubai Police on a tip-off raided the apartment on April 29 and found the woman locked in a two-bedroom flat.
The woman dancer told the public prosecutor that she had asked them to arrange for her travel to India but the supervisor did not agree. ”He asked me to reimburse the costs of my coming to the UAE and that is what I actually did,” she alleged. The two accused said they were worried that the woman might run away so they held her up until the hotel administration could arrange for her return to her home country.
